No-repeat volley warm-up
prepared by USPTA

Type: Singles/doubles Category: Volley/warm-up and stretching

Levels: Intermediate/adv./comp. Time: 5 minutes

Description and goals:

A drill that emphasizes changing direction, height and speed of volleys during the warm-up.

Organization:

Players rally from service line to service line. Speed should be controlled with rally pace being emphasized. If player hits a forehand volley crosscourt to other player's forehand, then the next forehand volley must be hit to other player's backhand or body. Player may also choose to return low or short, requiring other player to half-volley.

Key points:

Heightens awareness of ball recognition and increases player ability to respond with a variety of volley options.
