Predicting drill (Little Tennis w/ bounce)

Type: Singles Category: Predicting

Level: Beginner Time/players: 15 minutes/1-4

Description and goals:

Players bounce ball to each other on one side. Players move and catch ball with one or two hands. Goal is for students to develop predicting skills. They should predict where the ball will be after it bounces. Encourage students to catch ball while facing the other player.

Organization:

Spread players out along the court. Players gently bounce ball to one side of players opposite them. Players track and predict where ball will be after it bounces so they can catch it. Players can use one or two hands to catch ball.

Key points:

Students should predict where ball will travel while maintaining balance. Bounce ball gently so other player can catch it. Encourage students to catch ball while facing the other player. This will prepare students for more advanced skills to come.
