Can I pay my dues and buy insurance online?
The Web site (uspta.com) is now accepting dues and insurance payments for 2008. However, if you need to purchase additional insurance, a certificate of insurance, or nonmember insurance for 2007, you are not able to do so online. The pay dues site is only accepting payments for 2008. Contact the Insurance Department to purchase insurance for 2007.
When you log on and pay dues for 2008, you will automatically receive an insurance verification for 2007. The e-mail will inform you that you will receive an updated insurance verification after Dec. 15 with the new policy information.
Once we have received the new policy number, we will e-mail insurance verification letters to members already paid for 2008.
If you need an insurance verification for 2007 and do not wish to pay for 2008 yet, you will need to speak to Melony DeLoach in membership, who will issue a letter to you.

When I try to update photos on my personal Web site, I can't see the new ones. I'm trying to add pictures to my Web site, but all I see is a box with a red X. How do I get my new pictures to show up?
A computer will often "hold" onto an image file. After you have uploaded your new images and clicked the "Publish changes" button, you might need to right mouse click on the page and select "Refresh." Your new images should show up then.
If you upload an image and see a box with a red X, it means the picture is saved in an incorrect format. Photos must be saved as a GIF or JPG. Images saved in DOC, TIF, PDF or any other format will not display correctly.

Can I be listed in more than one city on the Find-a-Pro Web site?
Unfortunately no, the information listed on the USPTA Find-a-Pro Web site comes directly from the member's address in our membership records. You may list either your home or work address in your records, but please be aware that all USPTA mailings will go to that address.

I tried to log in to the "members only" section and it is asking for a user name and password. How do I get one?
The user name is your last name and the password is your USPTA member number. A problem can occur when the last name and member number required to access the "members only" section does not match membership database records. Make sure that you are typing only your last name and USPTA membership number (no letter designation). If you are still unable to log in, please call USPTA or send an e-mail to uspta@uspta.org.

Does USPTA give back a percentage of dues to regional divisions?
Yes, 35 percent of USPTA membership dues revenue is given directly to USPTA's divisions, allowing them to service members at the local level.
USPTA's 17 divisions offer conventions, meetings, educational activities, social and networking opportunities, prize-money tournaments and other activities at the local level.
USPTA is the only U.S.-based association of tennis teachers with democratically elected leaders. Each of USPTA's 17 U.S. divisions has a board of officers. Division representatives, along with USPTA's national board of directors, make up the 45-member Executive Committee, which determines the direction of USPTA policy. This democratic structure is one of the key differences between USPTA and other tennis-teaching associations.

I wish to know if there is a suggested fee list for tennis lessons. I'll be having a very busy summer at local courts and I need advice on the price per lesson to charge individuals and groups.
USPTA does not maintain detailed information on current salary and compensation packages for tennis-teaching professionals. Our legal counsel has advised us that even compiling such statistics regarding lesson fees or salaries of tennis professionals might offend the law as it could be viewed by some as price fixing.
As you may know, salary ranges depend on many factors, including geographic location, type of facility (public or private), experience level, etc. Given that USPTA members work in such a wide variety of places and facilities, the actual salary figures would be all over the board.
One way to compute the average price of a tennis lesson in your area is to research the hourly rates at a number of country clubs, tennis clubs and public parks. This should give you a good idea of what the hourly rates are in your city.
Also, you could possibly obtain pro compensation information from the Tennis Industry Association. The TIA is an organization that is made up of tennis companies involved in the manufacturing, marketing and sales of tennis products, along with publications, tennis management firms, and other allied organizations in tennis. The TIA often has statistical information available and conducted a tennis pro compensation survey in recent years. For your convenience, we have listed contact information below:
Tennis Industry Association 19 Pope Ave. - Executive Park Suite 107 P.O. Box 7845, Hilton Head Island, SC 29928 (843) 686-3036, (843) 686-3078 (fax) www.tennisindustry.org

How do I go about playing pro tennis?
In order to play at the professional level, you will need to start at the ITF futures level or ITF satellite level. (Some satellites do not have "open qualifying," which means that players without an ATP or WTA world ranking will most likely not be able to enter these tournaments, so be sure to look for satellites that have "open qualifying.")
Once you've earned some ATP or WTA points (a world ranking) you may begin playing challenger level events. Acceptance into the qualifying rounds of these events is based on ATP or WTA ranking, so there are times when ranked players do not get in if their ranking is not high enough. (ATP and WTA has historical data so you can get an idea of the ranking needed for those events.) From there, your ATP or WTA ranking determines what events you may play.
For more information, we suggest that you contact both the ITF and ATP or WTA. Contact information is listed below for your convenience.
