Crosscourt and pass
prepared by Chris Michalowski, USPTA

Type: Doubles Category: Passing/volley

Levels: Intermediate/adv./comp. Time: 8-10 minutes

Description and goals:

This drill incorporates positioning, volleys, passing shots, and helps players practice timing on the poach or fake in doubles.

Organization:

Set up players in starting positions as shown. Pro feeds first ball to B, who moves over and hits crosscourt. A moves in and hits volley. Pro now feeds second ball to B on the other side. Players are now in the returner and server's partner position. B can hit the second ball anywhere trying to pass "A" in the doubles court. It is up to A to either fake or poach to get a racquet on the ball.

Key points:

Scoring:

If B passes = 1 point

If A gets pass back = 2 points

Play to 15 and switch sides
