Description and goals:
Develops consistent groundstrokes and playing patterns. Players should work on movement and consistency.
Organization:
Player A starts the rally with a feed that must be past the service line and in the middle of the court. Players A and B play a groundstroke rally. Whoever loses the point is replaced by other player, who plays the next point against the winner. Whoever reaches 21 points first is the winner (must win by at least 2 points). Use ping-pong serving to rotate the feeds.
Variations: Do it as a doubles game. Play where the ball must be beyond the service line. Allow players to approach the net. Play the game on half the court. Play to 11 to keep the game moving.
Key points:
Focus on consistency, height over the net and the use of topspin to keep the ball deep and work on patterns.
